Email Unlock

Grow your list with a content upgrade that really is locked

Email Unlock hides part of a post or page behind a short email form. When a visitor enters their address, the content appears — and you keep the address.

Free and open source. No third-party services, nothing sent off your site.

How it works

Block or shortcode

Wrap any blocks in the Email Unlock block, or use the [email_unlock] shortcode anywhere else.

Really locked

The hidden content is not in the page HTML, so view-source cannot get around it. It is delivered only after the visitor opts in.

Cache-friendly

The form and the content are loaded separately from the cached page, so caching plugins are no problem.

Everything you’d expect from a real plugin

  • Returning visitors see the content straight away, with no cookie set on your site
  • An opt-ins screen shows who unlocked what, and when
  • A built-in consent checkbox with editable text
  • Customizable heading, message, button label, and accent color
  • Full WordPress Privacy API support: policy content, data export, and data erasure
  • Available in English, Spanish, and French, with more languages on the way

Want subscribers you can actually email?

Email Unlock Pro adds:

  • Email-verified unlocking — the visitor must click a link sent to their inbox
  • Mailchimp sync
  • An analytics dashboard with CSV export
  • A teaser preview and several locker styles
